Since 1968, we have been working to find solutions to help people living in absolute poverty achieve major, sustainable improvements in their lives. Founded in Ireland in response to the famine in Biafra, we respond quickly and effectively to major emergencies, as well as develop and implement long-term development projects in the areas of health, HIV & Aids, education and food, income and markets. That translates to 8.5 million people reached in 2011 in 25 countries. We're also one of the most efficient humanitarian organizations today - 92 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to the field and to the people we are there to serve.
